Celebrating One Year of Dental Care


This week, Little Rivers Health Care is celebrating an exciting milestone: one year since we began seeing dental patients. Over the past twelve months, we've had the privilege of providing quality care, building relationships with patients and families, and making a positive impact on oral health across our communities.


This achievement reflects the dedication, teamwork, and passion of everyone involved from our dental team to the colleagues across LRHC who support them every day. We're proud of how far we've come, and we're excited for what's ahead.


Bringing Care to Students Where They Are


One of the most meaningful parts of this first year has been our partnership with Rivendell Interstate School District. Through this collaboration, schools across the district arrange transportation so that students of all ages can come to LRHC for dental hygiene care with Lauren, our dental hygienist.


By removing the barrier of transportation, we've been able to bring preventive dental care directly into students' lives reaching families who might not otherwise have easy access to it


A Year of Impact By The Numbers

Behind every number is a patient, a family, and a healthier smile. Here's what our dental team accomplished together over the past year:

  • 326 - Dental Patients Seen
  • 127 - SDF Applications -> Silver Diamine Fluoride — stops the spread of tooth decay
  • 87 - Teeth Treated with SMART -> Silver Modified Atraumatic Restorative Technique — tracked since October
  • 192 - Fluoride Varnish Applications


Meet Lauren Harlow, RDH the dental hygienist behind LRHC's onsite dental hygiene services at our Newbury Clinic. With over 13 years of experience in oral health, Lauren provides cleanings, fluoride varnish, sealants, and x-rays for patients of all ages, along with targeted restorative care like Silver Diamine Fluoride and no-drilling fillings. Over the past year, she's also brought care directly to local students through our partnership with Rivendell Interstate School District, helping make quality dental care more accessible across our community. Lauren has been the visionary behind our dental clinic for many years and we are grateful to her for bringing it to life. Thank you, Lauren, for everything you do!

That partnership looks like collaborative goal-setting, clear communication (we’ll always ask you to repeat back instructions in your own words to make sure everything is clear), and a judgment-free space to talk honestly about what’s making blood pressure management hard for you. What You Can Do at Home Managing blood pressure isn’t only about medication. Small, consistent lifestyle changes can make a meaningful difference: • Get moving: Aim for 90–150 minutes of moderate activity per week — brisk walks count. • Reduce sodium: Less than 1,500 mg per day is the goal. Even cutting 1,000 mg helps. • Eat the DASH way: Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy — and less red meat. • Manage your weight: Even a 5% weight loss can lower your blood pressure noticeably. • Take medications as prescribed: Take them as directed and never stop without talking to your provider first. • Monitor at home: Two readings in the morning and evening, for seven days, gives your care team the clearest picture. How to take an accurate home reading Avoid caffeine, smoking, and exercise for 30 minutes beforehand. Sit with your back supported, feet flat, arm at heart level — cuff on bare skin above the elbow. Rest 5 minutes before measuring. Take two or three readings one minute apart, and record them. If you’re on blood pressure medication, measure before you take your dose.
